Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What can I expect from therapy?
A. The following are all benefits you should expect to:
  • Eliminate or reduce pain.

  • Increase muscular and joint function back to normal as quickly as possible.

  • Improve strength and muscular balance.

  • Become as active again as possible in the shortest time period.

  • Obtain information on how to avoid re-injury.

Q. What does a therapy session consist of?
A. When doing an evaluation of someone experiencing any symptom, these are the five basic conditions that we look to evaluate:

  1. ROTATIONS: We will evaluate to see if there are any rotations within the body that could be causing muscular imbalances.

  2. SPASMS: Shorting of tissue anywhere in the body can result in pain and discomfort if left untreated, thus increasing the pain - spasm - pain cycle.

  3. ADHESIONS: Microscopic tears within our muscle fibers are interpreted as trauma by the brain. Blood is sent to the injured area for faster recovery. Blood that is high in calcium can sometimes form what are known as adhesions, or scar tissue buildup, in the injured area. This can shorten the range of motion of not only the muscle, but the joint as well.

  4. INCREASE IN MUSCULAR IMBALANCES: There is a saying, "Where there is an action, there is always a reaction". Evaluating the musculature, checking for any indication of muscles being too tight or guarded can cause an increase in pain and discomfort in a variety of places in the body.

  5. DECREASE IN JOINT RANGE OF MOTION: The evaluation of the tracking of the joint and range of motion that each joint has or does not have cannot be overlooked. Abnormal joint tracking is often the result of muscle tissue becoming extremely tight or out of balance, thus causing undue pressure on the joint. This can change its normal tracking mode.

Q. Does therapy like this hurt?
A. Anytime you work on an injured area, it can be uncomfortable. But the area of pain you are experiencing may only be the symptom of the problem instead of the source. So, a variety of areas will be addressed to relieve your discomfort. Also, we will always work at the patient's level of tolerance and never beyond. Patients who avoid receiving therapy are encouraging more pain and stiffness, not only in the joint, but also in the muscles that surround that joint.

Q. Why should I chose this type of  therapy?
A. Specialized therapy such as this is more than just another rehabilitation tool. It is a way to address the underlying problem and not just the symptom of pain. It is a way to create balance within our muscular structure, which lengthens and increases the joint's ability to function. After rehabilitation, it is a vital link for keeping patient/athletes primed for top performance and can lengthen their careers. It is the key for success in achieving that next level.

Q. Do you take insurance?
A. We do not accept insurance. However, upon request at the end of your therapy program, you will receive and itemized bill that you can file to your insurance company.  Some insurance company will pay for therapy with a doctors referral.
