These two things are interrelated and inseparable! For many of you, this will be your first encounter with a sports therapist. Congratulations on taking your first step toward achieving better health and performance. Our therapists are highly educated and trained professionals who treat sports related and non related injuries. If you have pain, this is usually a warning sign of bigger things to come. Sports Therapy was designed to go beyond a problem to the underlying cause. Thus, it treats both performance and the muscular problems that prevent that performance. A decrease of performance and strain type injuries have a common denominator that comes down to one single word: RESISTANCE. Resistance is one force working against another force. Clear unobstructed movement without resistance allow the athlete to stay at the top of his or her game, thus decreasing the chance of injury The most overlooked and untreated condition in sports is the amount of resistance (to motion) constantly present in the muscular system and the long term effects of that resistance upon other systems. Sports therapy care is a team effort; achieving your maximum benefit is our number one goal. Therefore, it is important for you to take an active role in your care and rehabilitation. This includes maintaining your scheduled appointments. Pain is only one warning system the body uses. We understand that pain is an important symptom to you and may be the driving force that brings you to us. Therefore, we will do everything possible to rid you of this symptom quickly. But remember that pain is usually the last symptom to appear and the first to leave. During your treatment program, you will be asked to perform certain activities away from our clinic. It is very important that you carefully follow the instructions given and perform the activities, as they will assure you of a quicker recovery. Remember this is a team effort! Our clinic combines the beneficial effects of sports therapy, nutritional analysis as well as core-strength and conditioning to establish a complete treatment program. This combination of specific soft tissue work, posture re-education, strength and conditioning exercises and stretching programs makes for longer lasting results, thus treating the problem, not just a symptom. |
